John Toepfer with Fran Hamerstrom, whose prairie grouse research and conservation legacy John helped carry on
Longtime Research Consultant with the Society of Tympanuchus Cupido Pinnatus, Ltd (STCP) John Toepfer joined the Sutton Center in 2015 as the first STCP/Hamerstrom Prairie Grouse Research Chair. His untimely death in 2018 left a hole in the world’s expertise about prairie grouse as well as in the lives of many colleagues and friends. A number of these colleagues and friends have cooperated to compile this memorial book describing first-hand experiences working with John. Those who knew John will be particularly able to relate to these stories, while strangers will get an inkling of John’s rich personality.
