The Society of Tympanuchus Cupido Pinnatus, Ltd. (STCP) was founded in 1961 to help protect prairie chickens in Wisconsin. With the help of expert biologists, STCP used a smart approach called “ecological patterning” to buy and preserve over 7,000 acres of grassland. 

Along with support from other groups and the state, more than 17,000 acres are now protected in Central Wisconsin. Thanks to these efforts, prairie chickens still have a safe place to live and grow.
